Bryan aka Fang

In the early hours of Monday 27th November 2000, one of my little boys was fatally injured on Coronation Road in Bristol, UK.

The last time my wife and I saw him alive was at bedtime on the Sunday evening, when he jumped on the bed and started to read "Heaven Eyes" by David Almond over my wife's shoulder, got quickly bored and then curled up in a ball and settled down for a catnap.

The RSPCA phoned at 8:30 on Monday morning and told my wife that they had found Bryan's body at 3:30am. He had been hit by a car and had died almost instantly.

We went to see him at the RSPCA. He was wrapped in a towel, but his head and face were clearly visible, and he still looked extremely handsome. Both my wife and I wept.

Bryan was known as Fang, because he had white all round his mouth, apart from a little bit of black fur which looked slightly like a single protuding tooth.

When my wife applied her makeup, Fang would insist in rummaging around in the makeup bag, in an attempt to get hold of one of those big furry brushes, which he would play with as if it were a mouse. Whenever I took a bath he used to walk all round the rim. Instead of waiting patiently like his brother Dylan for the catty treats to be handed out, he would jump up and scratch at my hands, and even thrust his head into the tin. He used to "kiss" by touching noses with people. He liked everybody.

He had a short-but-sweet life.

Bryan was a fun loving, very naughty and affectionate cat, and will be sorely missed.
